Team Republic of Ireland Clinches Runners-Up Spot in ACF Real Molinillo League

Team Republic of Ireland clinched second place despite losing in the penultimate day of the ACF Real Molinillo League.

Team Republic of Ireland clinched the runners-up spot in the first season of the ACF Real Molinillo in-house league despite losing 4-7 to the bottom team Team England. This was because Team Germany, which trailed Team of Republic of Ireland by 4 points leading up to the penultimate day of fixtures, lost 4-8 to the newly crowned champion Team Belgium.

Team Germany, resurgent in the homestretch of the season despite a wretched start, was the form team leading to the final round of matches and threatened to pip Team Republic of Ireland to the runners-up position. The team could not reproduce its earlier sparkling form, however, and surprising lost two consecutive matches.

With just one round of matches to be played, Team Republic of Ireland has 45 points, four ahead of Team Germany's 41. Team Belgium, meanwhile, extended its lead over Team Republic of Ireland to 16 points after today's victory over Team Germany.

Team England's victory today over Team Republic or Ireland also meant that it won two consecutive matches for the first time in the entire season.
